This week we are excited to highlight our MPU Parent Champion, Marta Rentas!
“I was surprised and so happy to learn of this recognition. I do what I do because I love it. I love to help other parents.”
An active member of MA Parents United Lawrence Chapter, Marta advocates for quality education and safe communities. Recruited by Altagracia Mayi in 2016, Marta has been a champion of MPU since. Marta not only attends MPU meetings and events, but gives back to the community at every opportunity. Marta is a thoughtful supporter and advocate immersed in local activities advancing education and parenting.
“Education isn’t only for in school. We as parents are our children’s first teachers. Education starts at home!” said the caring teacher and loving mother. She is the proud mother of four- three sons and one daughter. She is also a devoted grandmother of six, fueling her passion to bring parents together. In addition to caring for her children over the years, Marta has taken in foster children, cared for sick relatives, and adores her husband of 43 years. She finds time for her family and community that she loves. She is also working in time for herself, aiming to return to her Master’s program soon.
We do not know how she does it all, but we’re glad she does. It is an honor to fulfill the MPU vision and mission alongside a local parent as committed as Marta. She rocks!
Marta is a huge help to family, friends and neighbors always willing to lend a hand. Today, we want to give her a hand- a round of applause that is, for her incredible dedication to families of Lawrence.
